7 Day Kenya Migration Safari

Kenya Migration Safari

A chance to get a front row seat on the Mara Wildebeest Migration and exploring other top wildlife destinations.

This itinerary brings you to the heart of the action where millions of wildebeest and other animals continue their search for fresh grazing while silent predators lurk waiting for their next meal.

Spend 7 days discovering some of Kenya’s most famous and rewarding reserves on an unforgettable African big game safari. Search for the Big 5 and any number of other savannah animals as you visit the must-see Masai Mara National Reserve, the spectacular Amboseli National Park and a boat ride in Crescent Island, Lake Naivasha because you need to enjoy the Kenya Migration Safari.

DAY 1 & 2

Amboseli National Park

Your safari starts here, and we’re so excited to be here with you. Meet your guide and ask any questions you may have. Then let’s go out together and go on the safari you’ve been waiting for Amboseli may be smaller than many other Kenyan parks, but it packs a lot into a very small space. For starters, the views here are astonishing because Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m), looms over the park to the south. Best of all, the mountain provides a backdrop to many fantastic wildlife sightings that almost always include elephants with big tusks, as well as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeests and gazelles. Birders can also look for the park’s 420 different recorded species.

DAY 3

Lake Naivasha

You’re almost guaranteed to see hippos when you visit Lake Naivasha, the highest of Kenya’s Rift
Valley lakes at 1884m above sea level. You might also see zebras and giraffes close to the shore of
the lake.

You’ll go on a boat trip on Crescent Island. It’s a chance to enjoy a quiet moment or two and take in the pretty surroundings on this popular lake. Keep an eye out for hippos as you travel around.

DAY 4

Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park is sure to be one of the highlights of your safari in Kenya. For a start, you’ll
almost certainly see rhinos (both black and white), lions (including rare tree-climbing lions) and
endangered Rothschild’s giraffes (which have very pale markings below their knees). Watch also for flamingo, leopard and plenty of birds, all set against a beautiful backdrop of acacia forest, lake and escarpment.

DAY 5 & 6

Maasai Mara National Reserve

One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That’s because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights. There’s a very good chance you’ll also see giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. And bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. It’s a place of beautiful savannah landscapes as well, with lots of acacia trees.

DAY 7

It’s a pity that it has to end, but this is where your safari will draw to a close. We’re sure that you will return home with so many exciting and happy memories, and we hope that you will join us again on safari sometime in the future.

Why we love this safari

The main highlight for this safari is the Wildebeest Migration, 2 million plus crossing over from Serengeti in Tanzania to Maasai Mara for greener pastures while predators lurk waiting for their meal. You are guaranteed one spectacular wildlife event.

In Amboseli, you’ll get up close with huge herds of elephants, both in tusk and size, against the backdrop of the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.
